On 10 January 2025, the National Audit Department (NAD), in partnership with the United Nations (UN) Representative, organized a Knowledge Sharing Session focused on "Thematic Audit on Climate Change."

The session began with opening remarks from YBhg Dato' Seri Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi, Auditor General of Malaysia. This was followed by key insights shared by Ms. Karima El Korri, UN Resident Coordinator for Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam. Also in attendance were Dr. Richard Marshall, Senior Economist UN; Mr. Edward Vrkic, Acting Resident Representative for Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei Darussalam; and Ms. Nosrat Ravichandran, Head of the Nature, Climate, and Energy Unit (NCE).

This platform offered valuable opportunity for 350 NAD officials to deepen their understanding of the strategies, policies, and initiatives relating to climate change issues at the international level, in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

NAD remains committed to assume an active role in climate-related governance through our inaugural thematic performance audit on climate change consisting of seven (7) topics which will be tabled in our Report later this year. Our audit objective is to ensure that public resources are managed effectively and contribute to a sustainable future for all, in line with Malaysia's SDG 2030 targets.
